"Contradiction", Ben Babylon's first single of his debut album, "Dreams For Sale", is out today. Produced by Grammy award-winning Greg Penny and Jesse Johnstone, it features Davey Johnstone (guitar), Bob Birch (bass), and Nigel Olsson (drums) of the Elton John Band. It also features Martin Tillman, who also collaborated with Elton, on the electric cello. CD Baby is the first record store that you can purchase the track, but you will find it in itunes too, very soon.

Elton John says, "You better watch out for this kid! He can really play!".

"She packed my bags last night pre-flight / Zero hours nine a.m. / and I am gonna be high as a kite by then", Jack Rabbit's whispering. Long journey today to the stars. Explain us the purpose of this tour along, basically, UK and US. I guess you have special guests with you, tonight. Ahh! Ok! It's Ben Babylon's Birthday and you have some people wanting to share time with him. That's ok, Rabbit! And also there's the release of the first single of the album. Wow!! We're ready for what you got.!!!

Currently touring UK with his band. After a few gigs in Scotland, he performed a benefit concert in Stockport for his friend Stuart Fraser Thompson's Memorial Foundation, who passed away earlier this year. Andy MacKenzie featured and played a few gypsy jazz duets with him. Wednesday night playing in Liverpool, then Friday in Milton Keynes and finally back to the US on Saturday. Hi John, I am sure you know about the release of Ben Babyon's new album, early next year.

Since they first started working together 9 years ago, Carmelo and Kiki have been on a journey that has not only resulted in beautiful music that speaks straight to the heart, but also on a road of growing and learning for the guitarist and vocalist. Still with playing regular shows with Orleans, and the Rock & Pop Masters (RPM). RPM visited Iraq/Kuwait last year, playing 5 gigs for the troops. His studio, in the Nashville house, is going strong: since the succesful album with mexican Manuel Mijares, a number of Latin artists have asked to do the same treatment for them. Also he'd developed a drum game "App" for the iPhone and iPad: Drums Challenge.

She continues to write and record and is completing a new CD she is co writing with producer, Narada Michael Walden. Keats has created a theatrical concert playing such well-known venues as Yoshi’s Jazz Club, Oakland, Ca., Knitting Factory, Los Angeles, the Bitter End, NYC and the Throckmorton Theatre, Mill Valley, Ca. It is a theatrical concert filled with joy, humor, and a ton of love. Also, she is working on book about her experiences in hope to inspire others.

"I had the privilege of being in the studio with Ben during one recording session, when Nigel Olsson came in to lay down drum tracks for the song "Contradiction". It was an honor to be in the room with such a rock legend as Nigel, and to watch him work. Jesse Johnstone was engineering the session. He is very meticulous, and he has a great sense of humor. To be around these professionals, in the very studio where the late Guy Babylon created so much of his own music was humbling. It was a day I will never forget, especially whenever I listen to "Contradiction".

"I have only heard a few songs that are going to be on Ben's album. "Contradiction" has a great melody and excellent, hard-driving guitar riffs by Davey Johnstone. I really think people are going to love it. Another song I like is "No Goodbyes On the Road," which was inspired by something that Ben's father used to say. "Us" is a fun, very fast song, which I think will surprise many people. And, of course, I have always been impressed by Ben's epic tribute to his father, "Goodbye Superman." I have not yet heard the new version that will be on the album, but with members of the Elton John Band backing Ben, it is sure to be spectacular".

Marlena has recently released "Serenity", an EP which consists of 7 songs, and it was written, arranged, produced & performed by herself. Recently she’ve also been working with Timothy Schmit from the “Eagles”, getting ready to begin touring with him again in December 2011. Marlena has also been a consultant for several Los Angeles based production companies, as well as film projects.

Elton John returned to Las Vegas for a three-year headlining gig at Caesars Palace. He was set to perform about 16 shows scheduled through October, on a new show titled "The Million Dollar Piano. At his side, long-time guitarrist Davey Johnstone, was remembering about Ben Babylon's recording sessions.

"On a day off in Germany during our Elton John summer tour, our bassist Bob Birch called and asked if I would put some guitar on one of Ben's tracks. Birchy had already put bass and drums on the song. Our gear was on the way to Berlin, so I went to the local music store to beg the use of a guitar! The guy said, "We do not lend guitars here!" Then the owner who had been at our show the previous night said, "It's cool, Fritz, he's Elton's guitarist!" I still had to pay a $100 deposit for a cool Strat, then I walked back to the hotel, knocked on Bob's door, and we jammed for an hour on Ben's song. Who needs a studio when you have Bob Birch's Mobile Rock Palace!"

Nigel Olsson
Las Vegas, Nevada

Nigel is so special for Ben too. The original drummer of Elton's band has been doing occasional session work, donating his time to various charitable causes and races vintage cars in California, where he lives with his wife Schanda and his son Justin.

John Mahon

As Nigel and Davey did, as well as Bob Birch, Mahon was on the recording sessions of the album and Jack Rabbit asked about his impressions to that experience. So, John, what you would like to share with us?

"I just recently played drums and percussion in my studio for a song called "Learning". It's a short concise song and was fun to play. I played drumset and some tamborine, shakers, bell tree, and a little African drums too. Earlier in the year we went to the Babylon's home studio and recorded 2 or 3 songs with Davey Johnstone and Bob Birch. I played drums on those songs. We asked Ben to make some chord charts for the songs because he is young and a bit inexperienced. It's fun to play with him because he is very happy to make music all the time. Songs I would like to talk about? Well, we recorded "Goodbye Superman", and "No Goodbyes On The Road". The first is a song about Ben's dad Guy Babylon and is quite a little masterpiece. It was very fun to play. "Goodbye's" also comes from Guy in way. Guy did not like to say goodbye when we were at the airport getting in our cars to go home. He always would say "there's no goodbye's on the road" - meaning we'll see each other again soon".

John, you have the honor to close Jack Rabbit's journey. Do you have some encouraging words for Ben Babylon, just for him, about the career he’s beginning?

"I think Ben will have a great career in music. He's a good piano player and is writing some interesting songs. He is getting out and playing with musicians which is something any serious musician needs to do. It is very difficult to develop a music career - much more now than in the past because record sales are so low from illegal downloading. If you download songs without paying the musicians for them they can never make a living from making new music for you to hear. I hope Ben gets to see a new business of music in his future".

On 20th October our star was born. Son of keyboardist Guy Babylon and musician Kathy Brown-Babylon, Ben Babylon is their very talented 14-year old son who plays keyboards, piano, drums, and is a singer/songwriter. The Babylon's family, is complete with a brother, Max, 18, and sister, Jessica.

Preparing The Debut: First steps

Hi Babylonists. One year ago, I was fortunate enough to contact him. I was dedicating a week on him and I asked for an interview. He inmediatily said yes. I was surprised about the maturity of the kid. Specially about his talent. Yes, he's familiar with great musicians as the unforgettable Guy Babylon and Kathy Brown-Babylon. But "Goodbye Superman" just thrilled me. It was so amazing listening Ben on the radio show with Freeman Michaels. Since then, Ben proved his abilities playing covers, writing his own songs. And finally, the date of the release of his first work just is arriving. It's awesome to see how a star is born. And he will make it on the music business, I am plenty sure. So, please, wide-doors open to receive, other time, the amazing: Ben Babylon!!!

Hi, Ben, thank so much for your acceptation and welcome again to the site. How do you feel now, Ben?

Hey! Thank you! Right now I am just thankful for you and all my fans for supporting me for this! Thanks!

Looking back in 2010, when we did the interview, I realize how much reason Jesse Johnstone had when he said about you: “He's very much a 'feel' player, which is pretty remarkable at his age. He's a quick learner, and is always looking to learn new things. In addition to his many great musical talents, Ben is a wonderful guy. He has a great smile and good sense of humor. His ambition and talent will take him very far in life”. He knows you so well, I see, right?

Oh yes, we are very close. He is really a great guy and I’m so grateful to know him. The reason I like when he is engineering one of my songs is because he knows me so well. He knows what I want, and what I want it to sound like.

Also you said: “I don't think much of my future, I just hope it will be good”. Feel the same?

Yeah....I am just living in the moment, and that’s the best place to be. One of my favorite quotes is by John Lennon. “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” I just want to be happy when I’m older. I don’t know yet what that will be, but it will probably have something to do with music.

How did you come up with the name “Dreams For Sale”? I really love the title. That’s also the name of one of the tracks, from the album.

Well I love art, so I was in an art class and it was a “do whatever you wanna do day” so I decided I wanted to make an entire peace of artwork just using newspaper. I was just putting random words next to each other. And then I noticed there were three words right next to each other: “Clinging to Dreams”. I thought of it for a long time, trying to write a song to that title. But I couldn’t. So I gave up after awhile. I came back to it about a year later, and thought of a better title: “Dreams for Sale”. I was really happy about the title and wrote a song to it. I thought it was such a cool title, that it should be the album’s name. I also think that there are so many album cover options that go with that title.

What is the album about? Did you have a concept or theme for this album when you started out?

There is no really album concept or theme. I just want it to be a really nice album to listen all the way through from beginning to end. I might do some Abbey Road / Beatles like transitions between songs. My theme was going to be a bunch of rock/pop songs. But during the making of the album I started discovering Ben Folds, Jamie Cullum and Randy Newman. So I started incorporating more jazz, blues and rock into my songs. I used to consider my music just pop rock. But I now consider my main genres jazz and rock. Most of this album however is more rock than jazz, but I’m writing lots of new songs that have more jazz than rock. And even some with some classical.

So yeah!

Can you describe as best as you can where your inspiration comes from most often? Did you listen other music for the making of the record?

I don’t know. It just comes.

“Contradiction” is the first single, out very soon. Do you have the date of the release?

I hope that this song will come out this month.

Will it be a just a downloading album or also a physical one?

The album will be downloading album and a physical album. I like physical albums better, an I want to put extra content on the physical album, but we’ll see!

Also you debuted the “Ben Babylon Band”, a three-piece band. That reminds me something about someone called Elton, with a drummer and a bassist. Just a coincidence?

Haha! Yeah well lots of my biggest influences are three-piece bands. Ben Folds Five, Jamie Cullum, and early Elton John all were three-piece bands. I just love the sound of it. Soon I’ll add more people in my band, but right now just it’s just Jagger Krusen, Alex Arnout and me.

Finally, a message to your fans?

Just...thanks! I can’t believe I even have fans!!!! It’s unreal. Thanks.

Hahahaha no, it's real Ben. We will be at your side in this journey to success. Life is not easy, all we know that. But we have to trust in us, in what we're capable to do, and, most of all, to have illusion. Ben, I wish you all the best in your debut album, we're so proud of you, and we love you very much. Hello Babylonists: what had to happen, finally happens: the highly expected Ben Babylon's debut album is ready to be released. Scheduled for early 2012, first single "Contradiction" is coming out this month.

“Goodbye Superman”, the moving tribute 11 year old kid wrote for his late father, the brilliant Guy Babylon, who passed away in September 2009, showed Ben's amazing talent and proved he’ll make it far in the music industry. Produced by Greg Penny, with the collaboration of Jesse Johnstone, the emotional track, performed for the first time at the memorial service, had all the characteristics to be considered a masterpiece. Performed live publicly for the first time, along with Kathryn Keats, it thrilled an audience stunned by the quality treasured boy. The same piece was performed live, too, along with members of Elton John's band, what it was an extraordinary experience for Ben.

Meanwhile Ben took the time to learn and form himself and, also, participating in numerous concert gigs, including the recent Malibu Show, Zuma Rock Festival or Music Nation, among others. Sometimes accompanied by his mentor and friend, Chasen Hampton; other times with his three-piece band: Alex Arnaout on bass, himself on piano / keyboards and lead vocals and Jagger Krusen on drums, but always with great success, for both the public and its legion of fans, growing more and more everyday, and, also (and very important too) of music criticism, all overcome the talent of Ben, his maturity, his brilliant compositions, his piano playing. There are many versions that Ben has tried, whenever a high note: including "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" by Cage The Elephant, "Don't Stop The Music" by Rihanna, and "Fred Jones, Pt. 2" by Ben Folds. We have also been fortunate to hear some of his own songs: "No Goodbyes On The Road", "Walk Away" or "Write Your Own Song", some will be on the album, others will be saved for another time.

Either way, the future (and present) of the boy shown splendid. With the illusion on the top, with great album collaborations, counting John Mahon, Bob Birch, Davey Johnstone, Nigel Olsson, Martin Tillman and ... others, the expectation is more than ever. We can follow him on twitter, facebook, on its official website, on fansites, because Ben is not alone: we will be at his side, supporting and loving. A debut album should be very special and the quality of it, for those who have been fortunate to take a listen, is striking and awesome.

Jack Rabbit has thought of devoting time to celebrate the month of October to Ben Babylon, and he has said he gave another tour around the world looking for surprises. If last year were virtual birthday-parties in so many countries, this year he had to do something special. And not just because it is his birthday, next October 20th, also to celebrate the release of the single.

To this end, we pray, remain very attentive to events and get on board: the month of Ben Babylon has just begun.

Hola babylonistas: lo que tenia que suceder, al fin pasa: el más que esperado debut album de Ben Babylon está previsto para principios de 2012. Como anticipo, este mes de octubre publicará el primer single: “Contradiction”. “Goodbye Superman”, la primera canción que Ben publicó, con ocasión del repentino fallecimiento de su padre, el genial Guy Babylon, teclista de Elton John, demostró que el chico tenia mucho talento para dedicarse a la música. Producido por Greg Penny, con la colaboración de Jesse Johnstone, el emocionado tributo reunia todas las características para ser considerada una pieza maestra. Tocada en directo por primera vez, junto a Kathryn Keats, emocionó a un público sorprendido por la calidad que atesoraba el chico. La misma pieza fue interpretada en directo, tambien, junto a miembros de la banda de Elton, lo que fue una extraordinaria experiencia para Ben.

Aprovechando el tiempo al máximo, Ben dedicó su tiempo a formarse y tambien, a rodarse, participando en numerables conciertos, como los recientes en Malibú, Zuma Festival Music o el Rock Nation, entre otros. If traditional culture is your thing, you can spend weeks in cities such as Kyoto and Nara, gorging yourself on temples, shrines, kabuki, ō (stylised dance-drama), tea ceremonies and museums packed with treasures from Japan's rich artistic heritage. Oh, thank you, Dagmara. She’s one of the most passionate fans of Elton, “It was on September 2nd 2oo6. He was performing a concert in Sopot. My mum encouraged me to watch that event on TV. I didn't know about him at all then, and I did.” Always is great to remind Elton’s first experience. She’s also so supportive to the Babylonist cause, so it’s great to be here.

“I love sport and animals”, as you Ben, “Ben plays soccer, a good mid-field player, eh, Ben?”. And your country? Krakow is the perfect introduction for the first time visitor to Poland. The city was left unscarred by the Second World War and today stands as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Warsaw is a city with a point to prove. Overlooked by many tourists for the more obvious delights of Krakow, Warsaw has more than enough sights to cater for the "city break" tourist. Right, Dagmara? "Warsaw isn't the prettiest city in Poland. You should visit Bielsko-Biała ;);)Zakopane and Sopot because there is a beautiful habitat. I like nature more than monuments personally ;)but if You want to see buildings You may come to Warsaw and Kraków or Gdańsk and of course B-B;)". Oh, great then!!!!

Music means everything for me. It's nice to see an artist creating, composing music, we're so thankful. Some songs becomes part of our lives, some tunes are unforgettable, some words are emotional. Musicians give us so much, so as Ben, a young talented artist growing more and more every day. Just I thought if we are so thankful with musicians for what they did, why not we make something for them? Jack Rabbit came up with this lyric when he was travelling by train to Madrid, to see Elton in concert. It's so hard to write stories, a natural ability not everybody has (you're not, dear rabbit). "It was the best, most fun show I've ever done. I feel......amazing....and loved.... Loved by all my friends who came......" first Ben's reaction was glory: he succeed. The Rock Nation concert, featuring Elton John band members: Davey Johnstone, Nigel Olsson and John Mahon, paid tribute to Elton himself but also to the late and unforgettable Guy Babylon. For the occasion, Ben joined the band playing keyboards and singin' three of his own songs.

"We played a bunch of Elton John Songs, and Davey played on 4 of them, and John played on two, and Nigel sang on a bunch. In the beginning, I played No Goodbyes on the Road with John. And then I brought out Davey and Jesse for "write your own song", and then I brought out Nigel for "Goodbye Superman". All of it sounded amazing....." explained me an euphoric Ben Babylon, while adding: "I cannot express how amazing I feel!". That will be an unforgettable experience for him, for sure. Two very influential people in Ben Babylon's life, Chasen Hampton, the musical director at Rock Nation School, and Tony Avalon, the owner of the school, were at his side.

Rock Nation is a private rock-music school in Los Angeles owned by Tony Avalon, son of the famed actor/singer Frankie Avalon. The school produces several tribute shows several times a year, focusing on the music of different rock stars. But rarely do actual musicians from bands being honored perform in the shows. “Everybody in the audience was blown away, and the kids were awesome,” Avalon said. “Having them play with rock stars that I looked up to when I was growing up was amazing. It was a night to remember.”

As Ben introduced before, John Mahon joined him on “No Goodbyes on the Road,” a poignant reflection on how people are often too busy to say goodbye to each other. Next up was the happier “Write Your Own Song,”. Then, Davey Johnstone and his electric guitar brought new energy to the superb “Goodbye Superman,” the beautiful song that the young Babylon wrote in the days following his father’s untimely passing, just over one year ago; that brought Nigel Olsson to the stage. “It means a lot to me, to be here for Guy,” Davey Johnstone said, before the show. “He was my closest bud in a musical sense, and in a sports sense. Whenever we were touring, we would discuss basketball and soccer as much as music. I miss him dearly". “Guy was an influence on all of us musically and as a friend,” agreed Mahon. “It is a fitting tribute to him, for us to actually play on stage with his son.” “Ben has come a long way through a tough time,” Olsson added. “It’s very impressive to see him rock out.”

"Ben did a pretty good job with the "Funeral For A Friend" intro" explained Jan Kemp from www.guyfan.net website, who attended the show. "That was the first song once Nigel, John and Davey left the stage. There were six separate bands of kids who then performed, and Ben played keys throughout the night. Ben also did a great job on Philadelphia Freedom and I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues" reminded Kemp.

Many of Guy Babylon’s friends and relatives were in the audience, including his widow, songwriter Kathy Babylon, his parents, Graham and Mary, and his sister, author Donna Babylon. Also present were VIP guests from music, film and television: actor/singer Frankie Avalon; keyboardist Lindsay Vannoy, who has worked with Elton John, Ann Wilson, Alice Cooper and others; composer and music producer Max Di Carlo, who has worked with Elton John; television writer/producer Charlie Bowyer; and film producer/director Peter R.J. Deyell. “After watching him (Ben Babylon) perform, it’s clear that he really understands music,” Deyell said. “When he plays keyboards, his whole body is playing. He is very aware of what he is doing at every moment, and what the other musicians on stage are doing. He is really terrific.”

Everybody agreed. The sold-out show brought hundreds of people to the famed Canyon Club near Los Angeles. Young students, in the two hours show, played a selection of Elton's best tunes. The set list is listed as it follows:

Hi Babylonists. Next live performance, produced by Rock Nation School, in Agoura Hills will join Ben Babylon with current Elton John band members paying tribute to the late Guy Babylon and the Rock Star Elton John. Both Elton and Guy have influenced Ben is his songwriting and in his music. "Goodbye Superman", as you know, the tribute to his dad, found inspiration on "Funeral for a friend" and "Goodbye yellow brick road". Happily, this song will be played on the event. They both talked about each other; Elton has it clear: "You better watch out for this kid! He can really play!". What Ben feels for Elton is devotion: "He is one of the most talented people I have ever met. He is also so kind. It is amazing how nice he is. Everytime I see him, he brings me joy". Two great musicians. Ben's starting his career, Elton is on the top. Is there a parallelism between the two singers?

Shy
"I've been a shy since I was a kid" Elton declared. Rufus Wainwright explained once how surprised he was about Elton being shy: "(he) is very quiet away from his public persona and has little belief in his own abilities (...) this very sweet little guy who's constantly feeling very insignificant, which is ironic of course". Ben is also shy, well educated, at his younger age he knows perfectly what he have to do or not to do.

Talent
"I didn't have my formal training (at the piano) at first. I just sat down at the piano and I could play" remember Elton. His music instructor, Helen Piena, recognized that his natural ear amazed her and explained how Reg could play a musical piece after hearing it only once. "I've been raised around music my whole life, so it just seemed natural" agrees Ben Babylon. Electra Barakos, singer, recognized that "he is one of the most talented children I know and his maturity and talent overweighs his years of life".

Fathers
Ben has music in his genes. Guy Babylon was always so supportive and guided Ben's first steps into music: "My dad worked with me a lot to become a good keyboardist". For Elton, is was not that easy: "My father didn't want me to get into music" explained a bit disappointed, "I could never understand that because he'd been a trumpeter in a band".

Starting into music
As we said, Elton started picking out tunes and it was about three years when his parents suggested to take lessons "until I won a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Music" he said. Ben is making his first steps into music, with desition: "I have to put in a lot of time to practice music, along with trying to do well in school. At school I play with the Jazz "A" Band there, so I do get practice at school". Well done, boy. Also, he is in the music program at Rock Nation.

Writing process
It's well known Bernie & Elton process, beginning with Bernie's lyrics and getting a song when Elton sits down and put them to music: "I'm good at writing melodies and Bernie is great at writing lyrics" Elton defends while adding "We have never been in the same room ever writing a song. He would probably kill me and I would probably kill him". One reason, yes. Ben, for his part, is songwriter and lyricist, but the way is so so different: "Usually I start with the music first and then come up with lyrics (...) sometimes I overhear somebody talking, and I line will stick out, and I will write it down to remember later".

Greg Penny
Penny, as a teenager, met Elton in the early 70s and even visited him at the studio as he recorded "Goodbye Yellow Brcik Road album". On the 90s, he produced "Made In England", after winning a Grammy for his work on KD Lang's album. Greg Penny also helped Ben producing his first ever single,"Goodbye Superman", a loving song in tribute to Guy Babylon, Ben's father. Two versions of this song, an orchestrated version and a piano version, were recorded. "The piano version expresses that I am sad my dad is gone, and the orchestrated version expresses that I am mad he is not here" wrote Ben about that. For Ben, it was the first experience on working with a producer: "He made it so easy and comfortable to be creative. It was fun for me because I got to watch the process of mixing a song by a great producer".

Guitar
Only one time could Elton had been seen with a guitar on his hands, when he performed "Love Song" in 1986, playing the guitar, with other guitarrists backing him. Ben for his part, could play piano, guitar and drums: "I also play lots of other instruments like the ukelele, and other foreign instruments" he added.

BABYLON MUSIC versus ROCKET RECORDS
The Rocket Record Company was a record label founded by Elton John, with Bernie Taupin, Gus Dudgeon and Steve Brown among others, in 1972. The label was originally distributed in the UK by Island and in the US by MCA Records, both of to which Elton John was also signed. On the other side, Guy Babylon, Kathy Babylon, and Ben Babylon are part of Babylon Music. Guy Babylon, the keyboardist, programmer, and orchestrator who played for The Elton John Band for over 21 years. He wrote many songs including "Babylon Bleu" and "Las Vegas Twister" that are on his inspired album Best Of Guy Babylon. Kathy Babylon is a singer/songwriter who has written and recorded many songs including "Take A Chance" and "Wait on The Rain" written with her husband Guy and Reggie Burrell, all part of the Singles Collection that is now available, with many more songs, even the succesful "Warpipes" band, on itunes.

Dogs
Elton is the proud owner of no less than 21 pets. He has a favorite out of all the pack: a black and white cocker spaniel named Arthur, a gift from the man that became his husband in 2005, David Furnish. Arthur became part of the family and was treated as a witness at the marriage between the two men. Ben loves so much his dog too.

Soccer
"I can't really play football" recognized Elton once, "The only time I played a whole game I broke my glasses in the second minute" he joked. "Football taught me how to accept defeat with dignity" and to listen others point of views, could be added. Ben is the opposite, he loves soccer and he plays on a team with good results.

It is now official... Elton John Band to Honor Late Colleague Guy Babylon

An upcoming Elton John tribute show produced by Rock Nation School in Los Angeles will be as much a tribute to late band member Guy Babylon as to the Rocket Man, himself. Three members of John’s band—lead guitarist and music director Davey Johnstone, drummer Nigel Olsson and percussionist John Mahon—will perform “Goodbye Superman,” a song written in Babylon’s memory by his 12-year-old son, Ben Babylon. Johnstone and Mahon will also play Elton John songs with Ben and other student musicians. The concert will take place September 26 at the famed Canyon Club near Los Angeles.

Ben Babylon will play keyboard and sing lead vocals on “Goodbye Superman,” which he composed after his father passed away suddenly on September 2, 2009. Ben, who plays keyboards, piano, guitar, ukulele and drums, has taken private lessons at Rock Nation since 2008, and has written several original songs. Elton John and his musicians have remained close friends of the Babylon family, so when Ben’s mother, Kathy Babylon, learned that Rock Nation was planning an Elton John tribute show, she came up with the idea to invite members of his band to appear. "It's been a year now and it just seemed to be perfect timing to bring everyone together in honor of Guy's memory, through Ben's song," she said. "My husband was a big supporter of Rock Nation. All the guys in the band have helped with fundraisers over the years, and the last one was actually at The Canyon Club. So this is truly a full-circle moment for me."

“I’m really excited that Davey, Nigel and John will be playing my song,” Ben said. “I wrote it as a tribute to my dad. They were his friends and fellow band members, so for me to get to play it with them on stage means a lot.” That sentiment is shared by John Mahon, who has been a member of the Elton John Band since 1997. "I'm looking forward to playing some music with Ben Babylon again, and performing something by Elton John will be right up his alley,” Mahon said. “He is an amazing young talent with many exciting musical endeavors in his future. I better start practicing!"

Ben Babylon isn't the only child of an Elton John associate who will appear in the upcoming show. Fifteen-year-old drummer Juliet Johnstone, a student at Rock Nation, will perform, as will her older brother, Jesse, a professional recording engineer, who will lend his talents on bass. Their father, Davey Johnstone said: "I met Guy at a recording session in 1987 and immediately knew I was in the presence of someone really special. We had an almost psychic connection and we loved stretching our talent to create music that was always challenging and refreshing." In 1990, Johnstone and Babylon formed their own musical group, Warpipes, with Nigel Olsson, Bob Birch,and Billy Trudell, and released one album, “Holes in the Heavens.” Singles off the album are now being released on iTunes, in association with Babylon Music.

Unfortunately, Elton John will not participate in the upcoming Rock Nation concert, because he will be on tour in Europe with drummer Ray Cooper. However, he remains close to the Babylons, and has shown support for Ben's music in other ways. Recently, he invited Ben to hang out in the recording studio, while he worked on his forthcoming album "The Union" with rock legend Leon Russell. That album is scheduled to be released in October.

Rock Nation, a private rock-music school with four locations in the Los Angeles area, is owned by Tony Avalon, son of singer and actor Frankie Avalon. The school produces several tribute shows annually, each highlighting the music of a different rock star. "Rock Nation and the Rock Nation community are very excited and honored to have the members of the Elton John band performing at a Rock Nation show,” Avalon said. “What this means to me is that Rock Nation’s status has earned the respect from professional world-class musicians who embrace the quality of a real music education to all ages. The musicianship level of this show will be outstanding. These students will sound unbelievable and true to the songs of Elton John.”

So emotional! Freeman Michaels interviewed today Ben and Kathy Babylon on his show at 1400 KKZZ AM radio. Also it was Chasen, his music teacher. "Amazing young man" told Freeman when he was requested about how the interview went. "A lot of people are talented, but not everyone has permission to be extraordinary, like this young man" continued. And he has reason. Ben's an extraordinary guy. We could felt that when the first open chords of "Goodbye Superman" were on the airplay. "That's your song?" requested Freeman when Ben laughed "Yeah!". "When my dad passed away I've got so much things to say, and I thought that music could help me in that through" argumented Ben. The tribute to the late Guy Babylon, was described by Freeman like a "very touching song, a beatiful song in his own right".

The interview developed since Ben was very interested in music as an early age: "at 6 years old" what caused surprise to Freeman: "(It's) remarkable being able to write songs, lyrics, find the way to express your feelings to your dad in a language that you’re comfortable with. (To) write that song at 12 that’s impresive!" Ben talked about playing live with Kathryn Keats and being at school, in a rock school indeed: "(the school) help me so much with learning new things, and helping me writing my songs, it’s really great" he said.

Kathy Babylon jumped on the micro to remind the single produced by Guy Babylon for Nigel Olsson, explaining how Ben "always writes stories" and how he started playing piano at Elementary School. With emotion, she explained how she met Guy "when he played his keyboard, it was amazing". "You're an extension of your dad" asked Freeman to Ben: "yeah, he inspired me so much, seeing him on stage, on the studio, writing his songs, somehow (I've) got his gift. "He spent so many hours teaching, this is the way to play, and he teaches (Ben) exactly" continued Kathy.

"Ben is a gifted singer" added Chasen, his school teacher. Ben said that it was "pretty cool" to work with producer Greg Penny, that he is penning a new album, he has new songs created, specially he remarked "World Away", a song that "speaks about when a son loses his dad", a song which Kathy collaborates. Finally, Guy Babylon was honoured for Kathy as "such a fantastic man, he left so much love".

The Premiere Of New Songs at Ventura County Fair in California

Ben will introduce several new songs when he performs at the Ventura County Fair near Los Angeles, California, on August 6.

Ben composed his first song, Goodbye Superman, as a tribute to his father, who died unexpectedly last September. The song has received much attention on the Internet, including on Elton John fan sites. Ben has performed Goodbye Superman at several clubs in the Los Angeles area. Last month, he received a standing ovation in Oakland, California, where he appeared as a special guest of The Kathryn Keats Show at the famed Yoshi's jazz club.

“I am looking forward to playing at the fair, because I think a lot of my friends will be there,” Ben said. “I like getting feedback from them, especially the musicians.”

At the Ventura County Fair, Ben plans to perform Goodbye Superman and three new songs, two of which were inspired by memories of his father. Goodbyes on the Road was taken from something Guy used to tell Ben about how when bands are touring, there never seems to be enough time for everyone to say goodbye, before they go their separate ways. World Away is a song that Ben co-wrote with his mother, Kathy Babylon, imagining how Guy may be another world away, but love goes on. The third new song, Write Your Own Song, is more upbeat.

“It’s about how everybody has their own life story, and they can write it however they want,” Ben said. “It is more of a honky-tonk, pop song. It has a happy feel to it.”

Ben will perform at the Ventura County Fair as part of a concert by Rock Nation School, where he studies music. Also appearing in the Rock Nation show will be student Aubrey Linder, the musical group Shadows of Aries, and Chasen Hampton, music director at Rock Nation. Ben will perform one song with Chasen, who has recorded five CDs and appeared with such stars as Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Keri Russell and Britney Spears, when she was on the Mickey Mouse Club.

For Kathy Babylon, Ben’s performance at the Ventura County Fair will be especially meaningful, and is already bringing back memories.

“The last time I was at the fair was when Guy played there with a local band, before he started working with Elton,” she said. “For Ben to perform there, it’s like he is stepping into his dad’s shoes. I see Guy’s and Elton’s influence on Ben, with every song he writes and the way he plays keyboards. He amazes me all the time.”

Ben At The Yoshi's: The Kathryn Keats Show

Ben Babylon performed, credited as a special guest star, as part of The Kathryn Keats Show at Yoshi's Jazz Club in Oakland, California on July 8. The show included some of the Bay Area’s most renowned musicians: master percussionist Joe Venegoni, Grammy-nominated bassist Michael Manring, guitar virtuoso Tom Lattanand, pianist Kelly Park, award-winning trumpeter Jeff Oster, and Brazilian-born drummer Celso Alberti.

Kathryn Keats was so pleased to introduce keyboardist, songwriter and singer Ben Babylon to her fans in the Bay Area. The young musician has been working under the tutelage of Elton John, who remains a close family friend.

During the show, Ben performed "Goodbye Superman," the stirring tribute to his late father, the legendary Guy Babylon, along with some of Kathryn's musicians. He did also play keyboards during at least one of Kathryn's songs in the show: “Ben Babylon is an amazing talent and we are thrilled that he will be performing with The Kathryn Keats Show” she says with satisfaction. “Ben is multi-talented. He is a fantastic songwriter and musician. Elton John's influence on him is clear."

She learned about Ben Babylon after seeing his song "Goodbye Superman" on the Internet, and decided to invite him: "My sons and I were watching Ben Babylon's video of 'Goodbye Superman' and it directly affected me. I lost my father, so I understood the power and the meaning of the song. It blew me away, to see how a 12-year-old could write such a song to honor his father in that way. It was impressive” she added.

Kathryn Keats is a soulful singer and prolific songwriter who specializes in pop, jazz and blues. She began working behind the scenes, packaging feature films, creating and producing shows for television and film and directing several bands and artists. Her work included projects for Herb Ritts, Wayne Masur, and Mary Ellen Mark. She quit singing in the early 1980's, and went into hiding, after her partner held her captive and tortured her for 54 days. She began performing again in 2005, after learning that her former abuser had died, and could no longer harm her. In addition to singing, she also speaks to nonprofit organizations and audiences about domestic violence.

Yoshi's is one of the most famous jazz clubs in the United States where many famous artists have performed including Betty Carter, Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Diana Krall, Branford Marsalis, McCoy Tyner, Harry Connick Jr. and Oscar Peterson. There are two locations: one in San Francisco, California, and one in Oakland, California. Ben will perform at Yoshi's Oakland.

Hello Ben, thanks for your acceptation, I am so pleased to have you here and I am plenty happy. Hope you like like the week is going, don't forget that Saturday and Sunday will be more surprises for you. Let's start, now.

When and why you first start playing music? And what made you fall into music?

I started about five years ago when I was seven years old. I've been raised around music my whole life, so it just seemed natural.

Sure! What about your school and it's classes? What’s the main sacrifice you have to make just to grow as a singer?

I have to put in a lot of time to practice music, along with trying to do well in school. At school I play with the Jazz "A" Band there, so I do get practice at school.

And which are your musical influences? Is there any musician in particular that you’d like to collaborate with?

Well, I have many musical influences. One musician that has influenced me a lot is Sir Elton John, of course. My dad worked with me a lot to become a good keyboardist. I also have many musician friends that have influenced me a lot. Some musicians I would like to collaborate with would probably be Sir Elton John, The Who, and Porcupine Tree.

Which keyboard do you most enjoy playing? What drew you to the synth, as opposed to the guitar or drums?

I love playing Yamaha Motifs a lot. I have many at home that I love to play with. Once I saw my dad playing the synth, I thought it was awesome. So many sounds in that one keyboard. The keyboard is different from the piano because there are many sounds that you have to know how to use. You can't just use it like a piano. However, when I play a song with piano in it, I like playing the piano instead of the keyboard because it sounds more natural. I just love learning new instruments. I know how to play the guitar and drums, although piano is my main instrument, and they all give me more ways to get inspiration, and ideas.

Also, as a songwriter, how do you go about writing your songs?

Well, I try to get a lot of inspiration. Usually I start with the music first and then come up with lyrics. However, sometimes I overhear somebody talking, and I line will stick out, and I will write it down to remember later. Also, I get my song titles from other song titles and making it my own. Such as "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" gave me the idea of "Goodbye Superman".

Ben, I was deeply surprised with your heartfelt song “Goodbye Superman”, an emotional tribute to your dad. It touches me profoundly when you begin to sing, with all the harmonies, the orchestral version, everything. How did that session come about?

I was inspired from "Funeral For A Friend" that my dad used to play the introduction to, and I wanted this song to be as powerful as that moment in the song.

It was wonderfully mixed by Greg Penny. How was the experience to work with one of the best producers of the world? And are you planning to have an album created?

It was awesome. Greg is such a nice and kind person who supported me while in the process of the making of this song. He made it so easy and comfortable to be creative. It was fun for me because I got to watch the process of mixing a song by a great producer. On the orchestrated version of my song, Jesse Johnstone (Davey Johnstones son) recorded most of the instruments on there that I played. I took the recording to Greg Penny to mix and record the vocals. Yes I am planning to have an album created. I have lots of music that I am working on. Hopefully my listeners will be happy with the outcome!

You performed at the ShredFest at the House of Blues, a benefit for the cure of kids cancer. How was that experience?

First of all, it was such a fantastic experience to play at the House of Blues. There were many celebrity judges there such as Steven Adler (Guns 'N Roses), Dhani Harrison (George Harrison's son/thenewno2) and Shavo (System of a Down), and many more. It was so exciting to go up on that huge stage and play for these musicians. And these are some of my idols too. One part especially that really made me happy was when Dhani Harrison said, "Ben Babylon, my father also passed away, and that song you played was amazing and so inspiring. Thank you." One of my idols told me that. It inspired me to write more songs. It was just a great experience overall.

When did you become an Eltonite? Remember the first time you heard Elton's music and what moves you to buy his music?

My mom took me to concerts when I was little baby, so I have been an Eltonite since I was a young. The first time I heard his music was when I was small, and since I wasn't old enough to understand, the music never stuck out to me. But when I turned about three years old, the music stuck out to me, and some of the songs that stuck out the most were Bennie and the Jets, I'm Still Standing, and Saturday Night (Alright for Fighting). It is an amazing experience to watch Elton, my dad, and the band play from the side of the stage. My mom and I would always dance to I'm Still Standing and Saturday Night.

What is Elton like on a personal level?

He is extremely supportive, and has been very loyal to my dad and my family. He is one of the most talented people I have ever met. He is also so kind. It is amazing how nice he is. Everytime I see him, he brings me joy.

I love sports (basketball and soccer), bicycle riding in the mountains (which gives me inspiration for songs), writing (like stories), and reading books. I play with my friends in my off time, or just play sports). I like being outside.

Ben: Guy Babylon Is So Proud Of You

Dear Ben: On the week, we had an article every day. With "Unforgettable People", I tried to pay my particular homage to Guy Babylon, someone very important in Elton's career, who played everything on the keyboards, a symphony man as I said. With Ben's article, "The New Keyboard Wizard", I tried to learn more from you. The Story Behind "Goodbye Superman" is just a rendition of one of the most touching renditions I've ever heard, well arranged and it's really a masterpiece. The poll about you, where people could vote, is clear that we are all sure Guy Babylon's is so proud of you. Most of the people think that you've got "a brilliant future" in front of you, that you should "collaborate with Elton" (wow!!!) and encourage you "to go ahead with your music career". Almost most of the people who voted, are agreed that they love your "Goodbye Superman" track, that they want "an album by you", that you're "the most talented kid (they've) ever seen", they want to "see you playing live" and they "check out your (fantastic) website". Also, they wish you all the best, think that you're "a fantastic guy" and without question, "love you so much".

On the week, you kindly accepted to make an interview with Jack Rabbit, and he was so proud to see that fantastic people like Jesse Johnstone (who recorded every instrument on your single), Electra Barakos (a great and powerful musician, and teacher) and Jonathan Birch (friend, son of Bob Birch) wanted to be with him, sending his words for you. That's a great honour for Jack Rabbit. And the comittee of experts of the website, from 12 countries of the world, "reunited" for, this time, speaking about you and your music. The Story Behind "Goodbye Superman"

Ben Brown-Babylon was just 11 years old when he wrote this song as a tribute to his father. Now released as a single, Ben was assisted in the recording process by Jesse Johnstone, son of Davey Johnstone, who recorded most of the instruments there played, and for the Grammy-award-winning engineer and producer Greg Penny, who also worked with Guy when he recorded and produced Elton John's album, "Made in England." There are two versions of the song: an orchestrated version, and a piano version, both performed by Ben.

Every note played is packed with emotion, depth and skill way beyond Ben's young age. The intro seems influenced by Elton's "Funeral For A Friend", that intro Guy Babylon used to play live in concerts. Then, the music develops to an intensive and brilliant piano playing, mixed with a powerful lyric, written by Ben himself.

Like Elton is his best rendition performances, "Candle In The Wind" for Lady Diana, in 1997, or "Skyline Pigeon" for Ryan White, in 1990, Ben Babylon performed it at his father's memorial service, and he drew his strenghts like a great artist he is, and delivered a very emotional playing that left everyone in the audience with tears in their eyes. Only Guy, from Heaven, might smile, proud to see his kid taking control of the keyboards.

Unforgettable Guy Babylon

Guy was born on December 20, 1956 in New Windsor, Maryland. He attended Francis Scott Key High School and continued his education with an athletic scholarship at the University of South Florida. “I took piano lessons for a couple of years, my sister and I. (...) I didn’t really get serious about music until I was maybe a senior in high school” explained Babylon in EEL (1993). Six months after graduating with a BA in music composition and theory, he moved to California and joined up with the band “Iron Butterfly”.

In 1986, he joined Bob Birch in a band called “Ashton”. After a year or so he went his own way, backing many artists, from Tavares to Luis Cardenas, composing music for radio and tv spots, tv and cable shows, doing demo work and putting together a home studio. In 1987, he co-wrote and performed Siedah Garrett's "K.I.S.S.I.N.G" which became a No. 1 dance hit in the U.S., and performed with Davey Johnstone.

He joined Elton’s band in 1988, when he got a call from Davey Johnstone, Elton’s musical director, asking if he would be in Elton’s band because they were searching a new keyboard player. “There was no audition. I guess he just had a feeling that I could do the gig, and I’m still here” said Babylon in Keyboard magazine in March 1987. Johnstone met Babylon in a self-produced session one year before. In 1990, he appeared with the group Warpipes, a side project of fellow Elton John member Davey Johnstone. Guy and wife Kathy, who does session work and teaches voice and piano, married in February 1991 and became parents on Nov. 10 of the same year, when Max was born. His other son, Ben, was born six years later, and also, he had a stepdaughter, Jessica Hoggarth.

In addition to recording 12 albums with Elton John, Guy recorded with such artists as B.B. King, Ray Charles, Billy Elliot, Eric Clapton, Fats Domino and Dwight Tilley. Guy also won an Grammy Award for his contributions on the Elton John / Tim Rice musical Aida. Babylon started work on Lestat in 2003, when Elton John began composing the score. "He'd come into the studio early and write a song, and then I would spend the rest of the day creating an arrangement," he recalled. "So it was basically Elton, Davey, and me in the studio with an engineer. We made pretty elaborate demos of all these songs. In fact, if you listen to the demos from beginning to end, it sounds like an album." Guy also had a hand in crafting arrangements for the final production "overall, I'm just a small part of a team of people" he explained.

At his free time, Guy was a sports fan as well as a participant. In addition to swimming and track, Guy also played football and basketball. But one sad day in September, 2009, the eltonite's community felt devasted and heartbroken when reality said that we had to go on with him not here, on our side, but in Heaven, playing music for angels. But all we are agree that a genuine and very high quality person as him, will not be never ever forgotten, no, also we have his music. Guy Babylon was an entire symphony. Always friendly, Guy always took the time to talk to the eltonites. As Elton said: "Guy was one of the most brilliant musicians I have ever knew, a true genius, a gentle angel - and I loved him so much", he wrote. No one but Elton could define better his keyboard wizard.

A collection of Guy's music is released, "The Best of Guy Babylon", and it's available for download on iTunes. The album features 10 tracks, including a remix of Babylon Bleu, the composition that won Guy the Keyboard Magazine Reader Tape Contest in 1987. Eight additional instrumental pieces are included, plus a lovely ballad co-written with Ken Stacey, "She Is", and a rocker co-written with Davey Johnstone, "Friction".

Ben Brown-Babylon: The New Keyboard Wizard

Ben is a talented musician who plays piano, guitar, and drums, and sings: a versatile artist indeed. More than this, he not only could sing, he also writes the lyrics and compose the music. Everything.

Born on October 20, 1997, he's someone who says that: "Music is what Life Sounds Like". Music has been around him since the beginning. "I am a musician. I love music. Music is my life" he kindly declares.

His father, Guy Babylon, joined Elton John's band as second keyboardist in 1988, and four years later, became lead keyboardist. His mother, Kathy, she is a studio singer as well, and has a great ear for strong and powerful melodies, which has influenced her songwriting greatly. Big ballads, meaningful country songs, R&B, Pop and Country dance tunes are some of the music in her large catalog of songs.

"It was amazing how Guy's dream of a career in music became my Dad's dream, and my parents did everything they could to support him," said Guy's sister, Donna Babylon, a Westminster author and home decorating expert when he passed away. Ben's parents always have been so supportive.

The Babylon's family, is complete with a brother, Max, 18, and sister, Jessica.

"Ben loves to write stories. He is in the middle of writing a fiction chapter book right now. And he loves to play music" says Kathy so satisfied about the kid. "He is in the A Jazz Band at school and he is in the music program at Rock Nation. He plays basketball and soccer and he likes to go mountian biking. He loves his dog, and hanging out with friends".

Now he has a new single, "Goodbye Superman" and he's picking up lyrics for composing more music, great music.
